2017 Guangdong Boutique Pacific Island Countries Tour Exhibition (Port Vila Station) Successfully Held

On April 26, the second stop of the "2017 Guangdong Boutique Pacific Island Countries Tour Exhibition" was successfully held in Port Vila, Vanuatu. This event is also one of the important local events to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Vanuatu. The event was co sponsored by the Guangdong Provincial Council for the Promotion of International Trade in conjunction with the Vanuatu Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, Huizhou Municipal Government, and Jieyang Municipal Government. President Lin Tao of the Guangdong Council for the Promotion of International Trade led an economic and trade delegation to meet the people of Vanuatu with famous and high-quality products from Guangdong. Joe Natumann, Acting President of the Republic of Vanuatu, and Liu Quan, Chinese Ambassador to Vanuatu, attended the event and delivered a speech. Over 150 representatives from the governments, business associations, and enterprises of China and Vanuatu attended.

Before the event began, President Lin Tao had a cordial exchange with Acting Prime Minister Joe Natumann, Ambassador Liu Quan, and relevant officials from the local government, business associations, and the Chinese Embassy in Vanuatu.

 

Speech by Joe Natumann, Acting Prime Minister

 

In his speech, Acting Prime Minister Natumann stated that in 2016, 60% of the imported goods from Brazil came from China, which is one of the largest trading partners of Brazil. He introduced that recently, the Vanuatu government has approved the construction of an industrial free trade park on Santo Island, and is speeding up planning to improve supporting policies and facilities. The Vanuatu government welcomes Chinese investors to participate in the construction of the park, and hopes that the two sides can carry out closer cooperation in the economic and trade fields. Natuman reviewed the friendly talks with leaders of the Guangdong Provincial Government during the "2016 Guangdong 21st Century Maritime Silk Road International Expo" led by a delegation from the Parliament of Vanuatu in October 2016. He thanked the Guangdong Council for the Promotion of International Trade for leading a large economic and trade delegation to visit Vanuatu and implement the results of promoting economic and trade cooperation between Guangdong Province and Vanuatu.

 

Ambassador Liu Quan delivers a speech

 

Ambassador Liu Quan to Vanuatu stated in his speech that the Guangdong Boutique Exhibition is one of the important activities to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Vanuatu. In recent years, Guangdong Province has actively carried out exchanges and cooperation with Vanuatu to support its economic and social development. In addition to mutual visits, Guangdong Province has also donated film screening equipment to Watts, and conducted "Guangmingxing" cataract extraction surgery and free clinics. In 2017, the two sides will also carry out cooperation in fields such as people-to-people and cultural exchanges and community construction. Ambassador Liu pointed out that in October 2016, acting Prime Minister Natumann led a delegation to attend the "Guangdong 21st Century Maritime Silk Road International Expo" and organized the first exhibition of Vanuatu enterprises, which caused strong repercussions in the business community of China and Vanuatu.

In his speech, Lin Tao, President of the Guangdong Council for the Promotion of International Trade, introduced the development achievements of Guangdong in recent years. As China's largest economic and foreign trade province, Guangdong hopes to promote outstanding enterprises and products in Guangdong through touring exhibitions. The Guangdong enterprises participating in the exhibition cover industries such as light industry manufacturing, electronic products, building materials, real estate, and tourism development, and have extensive cooperation space with Vanuatu. It is hoped that entrepreneurs from both sides can use this exhibition to strengthen communication, establish contacts, expand cooperation in multiple fields such as investment, trade, tourism, and promote win-win development.

 

Sign friendly cooperation memorandum

 

To build a platform for further pragmatic promotion of bilateral economic and trade cooperation. President Lin Tao of the Guangdong Council for the Promotion of International Trade and President Guan Kai of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Vanuatu signed a memorandum of friendship and cooperation.
